explore my semi-abstract & representational paintings inspired by the australian landscape & seascape
John is an Australian artist who has family living in Switzerand & exhibits in both countries.
Fascinated by the contrasts in nature and influenced by the weather patterns, seasons and unique flora of the country, he paints to capture the essence and transience of the land and his connection to it, rather than to tame it.
Sometimes a painting paints itself and he can struggle with allowing it to follow its own volition. Does he allow it to continue its way, or does he rein it in and paint what he has envisaged? Sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses. Either way a painting becomes its own entity.
‘We live in an extraordinary natural world, which I am currently exploring in all its colourful rhythms and abstractions.' - John
Lily will be representing John at the upcoming Kunstmarktmeile, taking place in the beautiful historic old town of Sursee. For one day only, 28 unique and talented artists will transform the main street into a vibrant open-air art experience.
