Bridle Trail
When I was a child at Mt. George, my father told me about his great uncle who was a bachelor and got “gold fever” and went prospecting in the Cells River goldfields. Once every month, he would come down through Mt. George to Wingham on a bridle trail for provisions. Once there, and having purchased flour, tea, salted bacon and rum, he would have a lot to drink at the local hotel! Next morning, his friends would strap his purchases on the pack horse, and his great uncle on his own horse and send them back along this trail to his camping spot.
