I painted this scenario after watching a program of a man travelling up along the coast of Western Australia and across to the Barkley Tablelands. He camped at a beach along the way and filmed a scene of the tide coming in. The tides in this area are extremely high and it covered a lot of land inwards – completely different to the tame tides on our East Coast. I came up with a semi-abstract which accentuated the colours of that fascinating and remote part of the world.
