This was painted after a trip to the Walgett area in Central New South Wales. They had just had rain, and all the shrubs and small trees had new growth starting to come through. The evening light showed this flourish of leaves as a purple haze. It is amazing country, where there is so much growth with so little rain - what great adaptation these plants have for survival!
